Hi Friends,
Yes, Yes I know! This is a long time coming- we're finally updating the blog.
We'll we've been traveling a bit. As per our last blog when we took Carly to Thailand in preparation for the big USA trip we made it to Seattle. Carly was a treat on both flights. It couldn't have been easier.
In Seattle, Carly got to meet her namesake Great Grandma Meyer. She also got to see her cousins and second cousins. Yes this picture is called - Which child does not look Arian' . Besides the twin Weingaertner boys its all girls in the family in the Great Northwest - with
Thank God she's not the giant in Seattle as she is there. But she's still in the upper percentile of weight. She is her father's daughter.
She also got to play with Jacob Freer and Ryan and Samantha Freer and the funny german guy Chris Kohler. Thanks to the parents, Chris and Meeae Freer, Don and Vivian and guardian Amanda to bring them over to Bainbridge for a rainy bar-b-que.
She loved the colder weather and was just miserable when we got back to Singapore. Now that we are back she is sweating a ton, getting some skin rashes in her arm 'folds'.

Carly on Holiday
In preparation for our big trip back to Seattle in September, we decided to do a mini trip to Koh Samui in Thailand back in July when she was 2.5 months old. Like all new parents, we have this unspoken fear that ours will be the demon child on the plane and everyone else on the plane will be giving us the evil eye.
No doubt the 1.5 hour flight to Koh Samui is a piece of cake compared to the trip to the States but nevertheless it gave us a greater sense of confidence for the next trip. We made sure she was sucking on something when the plane was going up and down - and it did the trick. Ours was angel Carly versus the other little demon child behind! :)
As for the holiday itself, we rented a nice villa and didnt venture out too much. Carly didnt fare too well in the heat and had heat rash so we had to keep the a/c running in the villa. It was also the first time we took her swimming.
For the most part she liked it except when mummy and daddy tried to wake her up for her nap and get her to the pool before the sun got too hot.... BAD IDEA!! What in the world were we thinking???
Here's a pic of daddy slathering the sunblock on Carly. More pics at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=60040&l=3ac53&id=574260265

Carly at One Month
Its been a very long time since we have made a post. We'll use the only excuse we have - New parents sleep whenever they get a chance!
Time flies - Carly is almost 3.5 months old now and weights in at over 16 pounds (7.5kg). She is hitting all the milestones and has managed to turn onto her belly...woohoo!! Looks wise - she is definitely looking more Asian but still has Daddy's fairer skin. Mixed babies always draw comments in Singapore and one minute we will hear "Oh she looks more western" and the next "Oh she definitely looks more Asian". We figure that's going to continue for a while.
Here's a shot of her at one month.

Carly - 11 days old
Here she is! If some of you didn't get the announcement or couldn't open the file this is what you were supposed to see. She was born 3.28 kgs (7.2lbs) 49 cm in length (19").It's amazing how scary it is bringing a child home and realizing how unprepared you are. For those of you who have done it you know that feeling goes away pretty quick thank goodness. Now she is just a big bundle of feeding, eating, sleeping, pooping joy.
So far she's got Daddy's skin, chin and lips, Mom's eyes and dark eyes and hair (although lighter) and she scowls while she sleeps just like Mommy.

Numero Uno
Our first post about our first child - Carly Jing Weingaertner.
There is she ..in the belly on the right to be precise :) waiting to come out some time in early May.
The first baby is definitely the most anticipated and for us, this is certainly true because we had been trying for so long and the treatment we had to go through to arrive at this current juncture was physically and emotionally draining. We are not going to blog about that whole experience but J & I figured that with friends and family scattered all over the world, its the best way to keep everyone updated with what's going on.
Hence the title 'Ca-Jing!'...a play on Carly's name and the sound when someone strikes precious gold.
We have 35 days to go before our baby jackpot arrives and the excitement has given away to apprehension and uneasiness that all first time parents must feel. The normal third trimester symptoms are well documented..I dream a lot more, get leg cramps and swollen feet. The good bits are that I get plenty back rubs and foot massages...ah heaven!
But what do husbands think about the whole process while their wives undergo the metamorphasis? Two that stick out so far....
1) The normally unflappable J, upon seeing my tummy contort by Carly's movements, screamed "AAHHHH ALIEN" and proceeded to bury his head in the pillow for the next few minutes.
Real cool J.
2) In a moment of affection, J turns to me in bed and says " You're my Udder"
What am I to make of all this? You decide...
